[00:00:00] Speaker A: Game.
[00:00:04] Speaker B: Well, sky, it's a hot start, but unfortunately, it's not our first one today.
Let's start with Happy New Year's, everybody.
[00:00:11] Speaker A: New Year's.
[00:00:12] Speaker B: It's the New year's, and today's January 1st. And I didn't hit record the first time we recorded this message for our first two times. No, I hit record the first time. I just didn't.
[00:00:23] Speaker A: It's been.
[00:00:24] Speaker B: We got interrupted with a phone call from a friend, and so I stopped it and I forgot. I stopped it and I didn't start it, and it's all my bad.
[00:00:29] Speaker A: Well, and, you know, let's talk about that for a minute.
[00:00:32] Speaker B: Let's do.
[00:00:32] Speaker A: So as your spouse, it. It's fun for me, even if it's at the worst possible time to take a phone call. How people want to reach out to you, tell them what a difference that you've made, even use some of your training words and special and programming and back at you. And it's just. It's fun. It's fun for me to see. And it. It does take out the sting of the annoyance when it's during family time or in this case, podcast recording time.
[00:01:04] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:01:04] Speaker A: But it is. It is nice. It's nice to see that you've made a difference in the world, and I'm proud of you.
[00:01:10] Speaker B: Thank you, Sky. We want to make a bigger difference. So it's New Year's Day, which means a lot of you are on the new you.
Wait. New. Yeah. New Year resolution. New Year. New you mentality. New resolutions, folks. Don't do it.
[00:01:23] Speaker A: Why?
[00:01:24] Speaker B: Here's the thing.
Statistically, you're not going to achieve what you said to you.
[00:01:29] Speaker A: Don't say it.
[00:01:29] Speaker B: No, it's just true. Because.
[00:01:31] Speaker A: Don't do it.
[00:01:32] Speaker B: Because the second Friday of the month is called National Quitters Day.
[00:01:35] Speaker A: You did it.
[00:01:36] Speaker B: And all you quitters out there.
[00:01:38] Speaker A: That's so mean.
[00:01:39] Speaker B: You're going to quit on January 10th. But I have great news.
[00:01:43] Speaker A: What?
[00:01:44] Speaker B: Well, we spent 2024, my business partner and I, changing the way we operated our business so that I would do more of the work. I'm normally lazier than he is so that he could document more of the work that we do. And by documenting, what I mean is, Caesar has taken our work.
His. A lot of this stuff comes from his mind, his frameworks. And he's written a book. It's a very personal book. It's a very passionate book. Clear, concise, and compelling. Like, all the great words come to mind right away.
And the book is on Achieving things. It's doing what doers do to be successful.
It's called the Grip Factor.
[00:02:25] Speaker A: It's a great book.
[00:02:27] Speaker B: Fantastic book. I'm an editor on the book. Of course, I'm mentioned, I think once or twice maybe in the book. I got him to put the word pickleball in there one time, actually. Yeah. He would just say that he did it on his own just so I didn't have to get him to do it, which is probably true.
[00:02:41] Speaker A: That was nice.
[00:02:42] Speaker B: But I'm pretty sure he said it something like, I don't love pickleball.
It's probably how he wrote it in there.
[00:02:47] Speaker A: More of a tennis player.
[00:02:48] Speaker B: Not sure how he finished editing that, but yeah, Listen, I've read the book multiple times already. I've edited the book along with another great editor, and it's ready. January 10th, Quitters Day. That's right.
[00:02:59] Speaker A: No way.
[00:03:00] Speaker B: Totally planned. The book goes live on Quitters Day. You can buy it now.
[00:03:03] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:03:04] Speaker B: Hardback paperback.
[00:03:06] Speaker A: We'll put the link in our feed so you can get access to it. Well, what's fun from my side of the fence, too, is seeing you guys accomplish this goal, because this has been on your list of things to do for a long time.
[00:03:20] Speaker B: Over a dozen years.
[00:03:21] Speaker A: Congratulations and well done.
[00:03:22] Speaker B: And we've started multiple times. He and I have both started the book multiple times and. And stopped multiple times. We're already on our second book, though. He and I are now co authoring the next book, which is on leaders. And it's a grip factor book also. But it's on leadership, and that's what.
[00:03:35] Speaker A: You do so that you can play more pickleball.
[00:03:37] Speaker B: Yeah.
Yeah. And we were gonna get to pickleball anyway, so thanks for getting us there really fast. Last week on Christmas Day, we talked to you about traditions and mentioned that we have one on New Year's Day, which is coming up here in just a bit.
[00:03:49] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:03:49] Speaker B: We're gonna head over to the church and we're gonna play pickleball and eat all the yummy good foods that our friends bring.
[00:03:54] Speaker A: So get all those leftovers out of the house.
[00:03:57] Speaker B: Yeah, we can't wait. But we do want to encourage you to have a phenomenal 2025. We hope that you're gonna spend time thinking about more pickleball in your life.
[00:04:06] Speaker A: Fitness forever, baby.
[00:04:07] Speaker B: Yeah. And I think let's call it fitness first and fitness forever.
[00:04:11] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:04:11] Speaker B: I liked it. I like this phrase, fitness forever you've come up with recently, but fitness first, and we're not talking about fitness pizza in my belly, we're talking about fitness, which is being healthy. I'm focused on it. The book that we're reading, this grip factor book has got me realigning my priorities to get back into better shape.
[00:04:30] Speaker A: Love it.
[00:04:31] Speaker B: Yeah, you should, baby, because you're not gonna be able to stop me. I don't stop me when I get in a real shape on me. Like, you're gonna be like, where am I? What? What's going on here, huh? Did I marry that dude?
And look, here's the thing. You know, some of you, you want to drill more, you want to get better, some of you just want to play more often. All those things are wonderful and we want to help you get there.
But take care of your bodies. We want to encourage you just to take care of your bodies this year. Stretching, loosening up. You're actually advocating stretching.
[00:05:05] Speaker A: Wow. This is a new year.
[00:05:07] Speaker B: It is not just a new year and a new me. I have been grabbed by the grip factor.
I'm going to come up with all kinds of fun phrases for the book. Have you heard we have a book called the grip factor? Grabbed by the grip factor.
[00:05:20] Speaker A: You often use the word get a grip with me.
[00:05:23] Speaker B: Well, we do.
We do. Get a grip. Hey, you know, just for fun. GRIP stands for goals, roles and resources, Incentive, which is like positive impact, negative implication and plan. And that incentive piece is what makes it go work or not work. And here's why quitters day is important.
[00:05:40] Speaker A: Why?
[00:05:41] Speaker B: Because the incentive is not good enough for 60 plus percent of the people that will abandon their goals by quitters day.
[00:05:46] Speaker A: That is true.
[00:05:47] Speaker B: And 92% have quit by the middle of February.
[00:05:51] Speaker A: Wow.
[00:05:52] Speaker B: Which is why all the recreation centers do keep playing pickleball. That's why all the recreational centers do really well. The first six weeks of the year.
[00:05:58] Speaker A: Sure.
[00:05:59] Speaker B: And then go back to normal.
[00:06:00] Speaker A: You know, being in the fitness industry for a long time, we. We know that usually by mid March, it is much slower. Not as slow as December, but much slower.
[00:06:12] Speaker B: Tell your friends that we're ahead of.
[00:06:15] Speaker A: The game and so are you.
[00:06:17] Speaker B: Have a great year, everybody.
[00:06:18] Speaker A: Happy new Year.
[00:06:19] Speaker B: Cheers. Yeah. They call me the business.
I'm ahead of the game.
I'm ahead of the game.
